Add Control Panel commands to your Start menu

by Answers 2000 Limited

When you install Windows it adds the Control Panel to the 'Settings' menu, however you still have to run the Control Panel, and then select whichever Control Panel applet (Add New Hardware, etc.) you need. This can be a pain in the neck if you're fiddling a lot with your system settings.

This tip tells you how to add all the individual Control Panel applets to your Start menu, so that all are immediately available. Here are the steps :
  1. Right click on the Start menu.
  2. Click Explore.
  3. Click New Folder on the File menu.
  4. Rename the new folder to Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}
Make sure you type the new folder name text exactly as shown. If you want to save a bit of typing, drag out the mouse over the text containing the folder name above, click Copy on the browser's Edit menu. Then follow the procedure given above. When it comes to renaming the folder, simply press Ctrl+V to paste the text you copied earlier.
