The player can choose one of eight songs at the opening screen. The selection from volume I is: "Hey Joe (Hendrix), No Woman No Cry, Life By The Drop, Sweet Home Alabama, Dust In The Wind, Blowin In The Wind, Wild World, Blackbird." At each song's main menu the player can tune his ax either by clicking on the guitar headstock and hearing the reference tone and making the appropriate adjustments, or by clicking on the red toggle switch and plugging his guitar into the back of your sound card in order to digitally tune the instrument. My Barcus Berry acoustic pickup worked well with this feature. You can adjust the volume of your speakers by clicking and moving the Stratocaster style volume control at any screen in this program. The player now chooses one of four categories: Music, Lessons, Chords, Words. The music category is where the player will hear the song in its entirety while the chord diagrams are shown and the exact place on the sheet music is pointed out. (Very slick and cool). In the Lesson section the player finds all the lessons for the song broken down into easy to follow exercises that you can work through at your own pace. It is not difficult to leave the program and pick up your lessons where you left off at a later time. You can start with whatever lesson you want to and move on to other lessons in any order. The recommended order is well laid out. The Chords section gives the player all of the chords for the song he has chosen. It also shows the corresponding notation. The Words section presents all of the lyrics for each song. |

No expense was spared finding the same kind of period instruments (mainly from collectors) and rare authentic EMI and other recording equipment the Beatles used to create their sounds to produce this collection, much of which, ironically, will end up in EASTWEST Studio 3, where the Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" was recorded, the inspiration for the Beatles "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album, according to Paul McCartney. Well over a million dollars worth of instruments, amplifiers, microphones, recording desks (including very rare EMI REDD tube and TG12345 desks), outboard equipment (including Fairchild limiters and EMI RS124 modified Altec compressors), and Studer J-37 tube multi-tracks were used in this production. If you are a film/tv/game composer, or a musician/producer looking for sounds not found in other collections to create with, this is it. Blending these unique and sometimes bizarre sounds with today's music should enable you to produce something truly spectacular! |
