The front and center channel speakers also use a new high performance 1" silk dome tweeter, with a powerful motor structure and heat reducing Ferrofluid cooling. its high frequency is smooth, extended. and open, yet never harsh or spitty. Their compact enclosures are heavily built using Medium Density Fiberboard, an excellent material for this purpose, and covered with a simulated black Oak laminate. |

the center channel speaker is critical any home theater's performance because it's called upon to reproduce up to 85% of the dialogue and 65% of the special effects! the 173 C includes a rear mounted High Frequency level control to help balance its sound after it's been place on top of the TV. this control is also an excellent way to compensate for overly forward or dull sounding movies. An included adjustable tilting base lets you aim the 173 C up or down for best performance. Of course, the 173 C matches the tonal balance of the 171 LRs, since it uses the same high performance drivers. So when sounds pan across the front speakers they won't change in character. |
